Woman whose dad’s body was found hacked up in San Francisco freezer is arrested in China and deported back to US
A woman suspected of murdering her father and dismembering his body in California has been deported from China along with her partner to face prosecution in the US.
The hacked-up body of Benedict Ching, 73, was found in a freezer at his home in the Outer Mission area of San Francisco on Monday by police performing a welfare check.
Investigators determined that Stephanie Ching, 35, and Douglas Lomas, 44, were flying to China; the couple were then arrested upon arriving in Beijing, police said on Friday.
With the help of US Homeland Security Investigations officials, they were flown to a federal detention centre in Virginia, where they were booked on homicide charges.
Police had conducted the well-being check on Benedict Ching after a colleague contacted his family to report that he hadn’t come to work. He was confirmed to be Stephanie Ching’s father by local station 5 KPIX.
Neighbours told the San Francisco Examiner that Benedict Ching had lived alone in the small until a few months ago, when his daughter and her partner moved into the house with their two children.
Investigators have not released a motive.
