Horse No 1 GOOD LUCK WIN (J135) A Hamelin L Hewitson (RELIABLE PROFIT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1500 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of VIVA HUNTER, resulting in VIVA HUNTER being taken in across the running of GOOD LUCK WIN which was checked.
L Hewitson was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 8 May 2024 at Happy Valley.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent careless riding record.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 SNOWALOT (E397) Z Purton After the race, Z Purton stated that, in his opinion, his mount would be better suited on a firmer surface.
Horse No 3 VIVA HUNTER (E369) M F Poon Brushed near the 250 Metres.
Horse No 4 PEGASUS GENERAL (G189) Y L Chung Shifted out at the start, made contact with I CAN and became unbalanced.
After the race, Apprentice Y L Chung stated that, in his opinion, his mount would be better suited on a firmer surface.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 FORTUNE COOKIES (J032) K De Melo Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Horse No 6 I CAN (H381) A Atzeni Crowded at the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 GAMEPLAYER WARRIOR (J178) L Ferraris Shortly after the start was steadied when racing tight to the inside of VIVA HUNTER which shifted in and away from RELIABLE PROFIT after making contact with that runner.
Horse No 10 CAN'T GO WONG (H087) A Badel Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and then raced tight for a short distance thereafter.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 KINGLY DEMEANOR (H486) B Thompson Shifted in on jumping, made contact with SNOWALOT and became unbalanced.
Was then crowded shortly after the start between SNOWALOT and STORM WINNER which shifted in slightly.
Horse No 12 RELIABLE PROFIT (G462) L Hewitson Bumped at the start.
Near the 250 Metres lay in and brushed VIVA HUNTER.
After the race, L Hewitson reported that from the outside barrier he was instructed to take up a forward position.
L Hewitson pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 1500 Metres (see GOOD LUCK WIN).
